Nas x Damian Marley

this definitely deserves to be mentioned.. my favorite rap artist of all time and one of my favorite reggae artists are releasing a collaboration album together. i'm soooooo excited! it gets even sweeter.. a portion of the proceeds from this album are going towards building schools in africa. Nas said, "we're tryin' to show love and stuff with this album, and build empowerment". nice! the album is still untitled and yet to be decided which label will release it, but watch out for it in the spring! in the meantime, you can catch them together in "Road to Zion" from Damian's 2005 album Welcome To Jamrock. 

 

Drake ~ So Far Gone

from Executive Producers Aubrey "Drake" Graham, Noah "40" Shebib & Oliver El-Khatib. this album is genius in the musical form. one heavenly collaboration after another with such artists as Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Peter Bjorn &  John, and even Diplo! there hasn't been swagger like this in a while. it is lyrically serious too.. there are so many hidden lines in his tracks.. you always catch something you didn't the last time. i'm totally hooked.. so far gone.. 

i do encourage to go out and buy this album. talent like this deserves to get paid! and i like to support artists that i respect. also, i am curious about the extra track on the purchased mixtape ;) in the meantime, you can download it here:  http://www.zshare.net/download/5557056704f4d392/

Valentine

traditionally on Valentine's Day, lovers expressed their love for each other by sending love notes in the form of "valentines". nowadays, billions of dollars are spent on this day for fancy dinners and expensive gifts. i think the best meal is a home cooked meal, made with love, and nothing beats something from the heart; a poem, a song, a picture.. my personal fave? a mixtape! burn me a cd is best =)

Our World Is Changing

hope wins. enter obama. we are finally able to see a man for his character, and not his color. the world took a huge leap in the right direction, not just in the movement towards ending racism, but any type of discrimination. i'm not the most avid follower of american politics.. however, selfishly i know that whatever happens south of the border will ultimately effect all of us. this store window cleverly makes my point.. no more bush = a good thing ;)

YO! MTV Raps x Puma First Rounds

Puma is back to their old tricks again releasing a series of YO! MTV Raps sneakers. i can't tell you how impressed i am with these beautifully designed First Rounds. the large YO! hit on the tongue is just begging to sit outside the cuff of my denim!

these sneakers are in celebration of the 20th anniversary of YO! MTV Raps. a new series will air taking a reflective look at how hip-hop started and will follow its evolution through music history. for music lovers in the 80's and 90's, this was a life changing show.

this collaboration gets better and better... each pair comes with a pack of YO! MTV Raps trading cards from back in the day, and the YO! MTV Raps CD "A Journey Back in Rhyme". i had given up on puma for a while, but this is redemption! someone PLEASE tell me how to get my hands on a pair!
